Grandmaster's Gambit
Chess as a well-made object.

A desktop chess game that feels like handling real pieces on a real board, plays a fair game at your level, and asks nothing of you — no account, no network, no ads, no notifications. You launch it, you play a game, you close it.
What "good" feels like
- Instant. The interface never waits. Pick up a piece and its legal squares are already lit. Your clock is sacred.
- Weighted. Pieces have mass. Placement lands with a thock, captures land heavier. The board feels like furniture, not a diagram.
- Quiet. Nothing blinks, badges, or interrupts. The interface recedes while you think and is there the moment you want it.
- Fair. A tier is honestly the strength it claims. Weaker opponents make human-shaped mistakes — a beginner feels like a beginner, not an engine playing badly on purpose.
